The lake
Hańcza lake is the deepest of all Polish and central european lakes (108,5 m). It’s 311.4 ha large, 4.5 km long and 1.2 km wide.

Lakesides are mostly high and steep, covered with multiple rocks. Shoreline is diversified with picturesque bays and peninsulas. At the bottom you’ll find trenches, depressions and defiles.

Hańcza is a mesotrophic lake with clean and clear waters. Flora is very poor. Fish that can be easily spotted are siberian bullhead, burbot and coregonus albula.
Since 1963 Hańcza is a nature reserve.
